You’ll likely need an IT admin to setup DNS or to enable email forwarding.

Support Email address

To begin with the Email setup, you will need to provide your Support email address in the webapp settings. Thena will automatically create a channel for you to send all emails in Slack.

Google (Squarespace)

In Google's DNS settings -

  • Hostname adds {.yourdomain} by default afterwards. Please remove your domain from the Hostname.
    E.g. for acme.com, the Host Name for TXT should be smtp.domainkey.thena and not smtp.domainkey.thena.acme.com
  • You can add the MX records using the 'Add more to this record' action.

AWS

In AWS's DNS settings (using route 53)-

  • Hostname may add {.yourdomain} by default afterwards. Please remove your domain from the Hostname.
    E.g. for acme.com, the Host Name for TXT may become smtp.domainkey.thena.acme.com.acme.com on creating records.
  • You can add the MX records using the 'Add more to this record' action.

GoDaddy

In GoDaddy's DNS settings - you can enable the DNS as per the instructions on the Thena webapp. No changes will be required during setup.

Cloudflare

In Cloudflare's DNS settings - you can enable the DNS as per the instructions on the Thena webapp. No changes will be required during setup.

Email Forwarding

Email forwarding from your current support address to the email address provided by Thena in the webapp will need to be setup. To set it up, you can:

  • Access your email settings -> Forwarding/ Rules section
  • Add rule/Forwarding address
  • In the From field, enter yoursupportemail@yourdomain and in the Forward To field enter ThenaprovidedEmail

Please note that this might require your IT admin to:

  • Whitelist Thena's domain
  • Enable auto forwarding to other domains.

For email forwarding, the IT admin may have disabled auto forwarding for addresses outside your domain.

Google

Setup Auto Forwarding

Google Auto-forwarding can be done by :

  • Going to Gmail-> Settings-> View All Settings -> Forwarding and POP/IMAP
  • Add a forwarding address (If Thena's email address has not been previously configured)
  • Set Forward a copy of incoming email to to ThenaprovidedEmail

Allow members outside your organization

The IT admin will need to go to the domain/group settings and update the settings per below

Outlook

  1. Go to Admin Panel -> Show All -> Exchange

  2. Go to Mail flow -> Rules -> Add a Rule -> Create a new rule

  3. In Set rule conditions, enter a name for the rule, and the below information

    1. Apply this rule if 'The recipient' -> is this personyoursupportemail@yourdomain
    2. Redirect the message to ->is this person ThenaprovidedEmail -> Save
    3. Click Next -> Set Rule Settings -> Next -> Review and Finish
  4. Enable the rule by clicking on the Rule in the Rules page and taking the relevant action.
